yeah i was gunna say one dollar stores too. they are cheap. but everytime i by something from them there has to be something wrong with them. like one time they gave away free fish with every purchase. and they ended up molding! EVERYTHING has something rong... but i cant think of anything that can go rong with glass.

Places like Hobby Lobby carry them but the price will be much higher than the two above mentioned places.
Depending on how many you will need, you may wish to contact a local wholesaler for florists. If you are buying 6 or more, they may sell to you.
I wouldn't suggest eBay unless you can find someone near by that will allow you to pick up. The shipping for large vase can cost more than the vase.

ADDED: There are other plants you can use, they just have to be ones that don't mind that the roots are wet all the time. The peace lily is a good choice, so are philidendron, Pothos, Anthurinum (flamingo flower), aluminum plant, bamboo (Dracena), and any others you can propogate by rooting stem cuttings in water.
You generally have some soil that the plant is growing in - there's a container near the top that's too large to fall into the mouth of the vase with the soil, but holes in the container that let the roots grow out and into the water. The nutrients from the soil will help support the plant for a while, but then you'll need to add a little fertilizer to the water. Most any craft store sells lighting kits, they are very easy to assemble. The hardest part is drilling the hole in vase. If you don't want to do this yourself take the jar to a glass shop. They will drill it for a couple bucks.But drill the hole at the base on the side, if you drill it through the bottom the cord will make the lamp wobble.If you want to do it yourself, use a small drill or dremel with the appropriate bit, go slow, stop often to let it cool so it doesn't break.

Also, because I love the effect of it, I got a spray from the hardware store that looks exactly like sandblast effect. I've done the outside of 2 vases that I've put into the dining room where they look stunning!!

Have you looked into companies that sell vases at wholesale prices? That's what I did. Then after my wedding, I listed them in the newspaper and sold them for almost what I paid for them to a lady who was getting married and looking for centerpieces.

how about milk pitchers - the heavy white ironstone ones - i'm sure you could order these from a florist or wholesale restaurant supply store. tie a bow on the handle to match your colors if need be.
What about hurricane lamps for candles? You can get cheap glass vases though, have a look around.

Have you looked into companies that sell vases at wholesale prices? That's what I did. Then after my wedding, I listed them in the newspaper and sold them for almost what I paid for them to a lady who was getting married and looking for centerpieces.

Wal Mart sells them at $1.95 a piece. If they don't have them in stock, or as many as you need, they can order for you.
I bought my wedding vases at Target. They were $2-$4 and were very high quality (heavy). They were so nice looking I actually use them around our new home.

If you have a discount craft store in your area that would be a great place to look, make sure to check your local dollar stores too. Dollar stores are hit or miss, but it's always worth a shot.
Everything else that I found was round or not near the size you're looking for.
My other suggestions would be to try some of the wedding websites and post this question there as well. You may even be able to find them used. Talk to your florist and see if they can find something. Even if you're doing your flowers yourself there may be a florist in the area that can find these for a great deal.

Alternately, I've heard of very inventive couples making an LLC for their wedding, getting a tax number, and buying from places like:

then selling all of their leftover wedding supplies on Ebay to turn some of their expenses into cash after the fact.
Check with Michael Crafts or Joann's Fabrics and crafts. Check Walmart craft dept. or Target See if they carry them. Then if they do not have them on a shelf, speak to the Manager to see if he might be able to order that many. You might need to order two dozen for a special order.
Have you searched on the Internet? Have you considered looking at thrift stores, they have many many vases, but you might have to settle for an assorted look. Glass will run through the dishwasher and look like new. I know that might not be your style, but consider after the wedding you are stuck with all of this stuff.
HELLO, I just thought of something, check a rental company or a florist, they would either have them or be able to order them. ( But they still will not be cheap and you will be stuck with them after the day is over) Of course you could make flower arrangements to give to friends as gifts after the wedding.
If you are on a budget it might be necessary to change to a less difficult shape. Look a the craft stores for square Plexiglas cubes.

Alternately, I've heard of very inventive couples making an LLC for their wedding, getting a tax number, and buying from places like:

Check with Michael Crafts or Joann's Fabrics and crafts. Check Walmart craft dept. or Target See if they carry them. Then if they do not have them on a shelf, speak to the Manager to see if he might be able to order that many. You might need to order two dozen for a special order.
Have you searched on the Internet? Have you considered looking at thrift stores, they have many many vases, but you might have to settle for an assorted look. Glass will run through the dishwasher and look like new. I know that might not be your style, but consider after the wedding you are stuck with all of this stuff.
HELLO, I just thought of something, check a rental company or a florist, they would either have them or be able to order them. ( But they still will not be cheap and you will be stuck with them after the day is over) Of course you could make flower arrangements to give to friends as gifts after the wedding.

Your trick will be in the lighting and possibly in your backgrounds. Since I can't see what you're working with this will be a little hard to explain, you'll need to use a filter for many types of light to keep from picking up things that aren't really supposed to be there and you'll want a background to keep things consistent. Here, check out this website, they'll show you better than I can explain. They use a EZcube but many of the ideas are adaptable. It's great, too, because it doesn't matter what size or shape the vase is, there's no scrubbing. Fill the vase with water. I use a 1/2 tab for bud vases, 1 tab for regular vases and 2 tabs for big ones.

How do you remove hard water marks from a clear glass vase?

Go to Lowes and get some paint stripper. It will take it right off.
If there's not too much paint on it you can scrape it off with a razor.
Go buy a small can of paint thinner. Put some on a cloth and keep wiping untill its gone. There might be a hazy film once the paint is off but it should be fine once you wash it. Also. regular lighter fluid, like the type that goes into a zippo lighter will take it right off as well.

I would like to grow a type of plant that ';lives above the water'; but its roots hang in the water and a fish (betta perhaps?) could live with it. Peace Lily and a Betta fish.
The Betta is the only fish you can keep in a bowl without filtration and the Peace lily is safe for the Betta. Remember, the Betta would still need food because they do not eat the peace lily roots. You will also have to keep the roots trimmed and the bowl clean.
